Mussar / Tikkun Middot

Tikkun Middot is the Mussar practice of personal growth through a process designed to help one cultivate particular traits of moral character (or "virtues"). These traits (middot) include such qualities as patience, humility, compassion, trust, and mindful speech. Participants undertake to learn about and “practice” a single middah each week, observing the way it shows up in their life, and engaging in self-reflection and journaling. CBI offers opportunities every year to join a Tikkun Middot group (va’ad) led by Rabbi Tom Gutherz. Well over a hundred members have participated in this unique Jewish spiritual practice over the years, which creates and connects a community of learners.
